We are told stories by every generation. Stories about hope, love, family, God. We hear echoes from the past, the humbleness of the older generations, wounds, gratitude and happiness.
In Stories from Finland the filmmaker created a magical and intimate space, the StoryTent, where personal stories connect with the collective memory and, together, form a poetic narrative about the Finnish soul. Viewers can watch this film as if they were looking into a mirror, contemplating the fundamental questions about being a human being.
Nearly 600 stories were filmed in Finland for this film, paired down to thirty-three. We go from love to birth, from childhood to youth, from famine to wartime, from urbanization to a prosperous and rapidly internationalizing Finland.
