Engelen, 23 augustus

Director: André Schreuders

Situated in the suburbs of Den Bosch, the Netherlands, Engelen - 23 augustus explores the felt implications of postmodern urban design. The city landscape and architecture are highly functional, comfortable and stylised, but also controlled and isolated. The nostalgia for community that the design reflects doesn't seem to fit its individualistic inhabitants. Does this urban landscape mirror who we are? Inspired by 'Spheres' from Peter Sloterdijk.

This film is part of a combined programme with: Public showers, Oberkampf street, Paris and Mirabilia urbis. These films explore urban landscapes, architecture and the function of its buildings, giving freedom to their camera to capture the visuals.
